original hand-painted portraits
--  oil on canvas  -- from your photograph or mine
by artist   terry lefler

  • These are "cutout" or "outline" paintings.

  • There is no background.

  • The house becomes a part of the painting.

  • Change the lighting, the texture, the pattern, the color of the background and the appearance of the painting changes.

30" wide x 41" high (at maximum)

My concept for the "cutout" painting was to eliminate the background of the painting and to let the wall show through and become a part of the painting.

This painting is oil on plywood.  The dimensions are 30" wide (maximum) and 41" high (maximum).

The wood is 1/2" thick plywood supported in back by a metal framework designed to prevent the wood from warping.  The edges of the plywood have been rounded and shaped.  The depth of the metal framework causes the painting to be approximately 1/2" away from the wall thus providing interesting shadows that change with lighting conditions.

There is "picture wire" in back of the painting and the painting hangs on the wall by the usual "nail-in-the-wall" method.

This painting weighs approximately 15 pounds.

NOTE: Prices are subject to change without notice.

How much does it cost?  See Portrait Fees.

How do you order a portrait?  See How to Order a Portrait.

Satisfaction is guaranteed before the final payment.  If the artist and the customer cannot agree that the portrait is acceptable, the customer does not have to purchase the portrait.  The portrait would then be the property of the artist.

How long does it take?  You should expect to wait 8 to 10 weeks for completion of the portrait after an agreement has been reached.  The artist will only accept a limited number of orders..
