view showing the black "drop shadow"
This painting is artist's oil paint on an aluminum composite material that is commonly used by sign makers and in commercial building construction. The paint has been applied in the traditional manner using artist's brushes.
The painting cutout is 1/4" thick and is supported in back by a metal framework designed to prevent the panel from warping. The painting has a "drop shadow" that is made from p;ywood. The depth of the metal framework and the "drop shadow" cause the painting to be approximately 3/4" away from the wall thus providing interesting shadows that change with lighting conditions.
There is "picture wire" in back of the painting and the painting hangs on the wall by the usual "nail-in-the-wall" method.
This painting weighs approximately 15 pounds.
